Meridia causes 9.5 pounds greater weight loss than placebo

Meridia (sibutramine) causes 9.5 pounds or 4.6 percent more weight loss than placebo according to a reveiw of previous studies.
Twelve percent more patients lost at least 10 percent of their bodyweight than those taking placebo.
The review considered Meridia to be “modestly effective in promoting weight loss”.
The review included 5 studies.
Forty-three percent of subjects dropped out of the studies according to the review.
