“We have shown that vitamin D deficiency is associated with the metabolic syndrome in morbidly obese patients, in relation with a decrease in serum HDL concentrations and an increase in serum triglycerides concentrations,” concludes a new study from Spain. “Previous studies have shown this association between vitamin D deficiency and the metabolic syndrome in women and in the general population, and our present findings confirm these results also in morbidly obese people.”
