Obese women in white-collar jobs earn 30 percent less than normal-weight, or even plump women, a difference of at least $5,000 per year, according to a new study.
Obesity did not have a significant effect on men’s pay. Nor did it have an effect on women who were poorly educated, manual workers, or self-employed.
The study included 2,314 men and 2,068 women from the Finland’s national registries which track’s education, occupation and income. Subjects reported their own body weight.
