Refined cereals increase the risk of various cancers 30-100%

The consumption of refined cereals increases the risk of gastrointestinal cancers and thyroid cancer 30-100% according to a study from Italy.

The risk of cancer of the oral cavity, pharynx, esophagus or larynx was 60 percent greater in the one-third of subjects with the highest intake of refined cereal compared to the one-third with the lowest intake.

The risk of stomach cancer was 50 percent greater.
Colon Cancer
Colon Cancer 50% greater
The risk of colon cancer was 50 percent greater.
Rectal Cancer
Rectal Cancer 30% greater
The risk of rectal cancer was 30 percent greater.
Thyroid Cancer
Thyroid Cancer 100% greater
The risk of thyroid cancer was 100 percent greater, that is the risk of thyroid cancer was twice as great in those consuming the most refined cereals.
Subjects
Subjects: 3336 people with cancer, 3526 controls
The study included 3336 people admitted to hospitals with the specific cancers mentioned and 3526 controls.
