    People given Empatic, a combination of 360 mg of sustained-release Zonegran (zonisamide) plus 360 mg of sustained-release Wellbutrin SR (bupropion), lost an average of 14 percent of body weight after eleven months according to a press release from Orexigen Therapeutics, the company developing the drug. Subjects

    Subjects: 56 of 87 completed the study

    Of the 87 people who started the study with this particular dose of the drugs, 56 completed it (64 percent).

     

    10% Weight Loss

    Two-thirds of patients lost at least 10%

    Two-thirds of patients who completed the study (37 of 56) lost at least 10 percent of their body weight.
