People consumed 12-19 percent more calories when the food was in liquid form versus solid form according to research from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. High-Carbohydrate Diet
High-carb diet in liquid vs solid form: 12.4% greater calorie intake
People consumed 12.4 percent more calories when they were given the beverage form of a high-carbohydrate foods compared to when they were given the same foods in solid form.
High-Protein Diet
High-protein diet in liquid vs solid form: 15% greater calorie intake
People consumed 15 percent more calories when consuming a high-protein diet in form of a beverage compared to solid form.
High-Fat Diet
High-fat diet in liquid vs solid form: 19% greater calorie intake
And with a high-fat diet, people consumed 19 percent more calories when consuming it as a beverage than when they consumed it in solid form.
Conclusion
Conclusion: Liquid calories are more likely to cause overeating
The researchers noted that food in the form of a beverage is less satisfying than food in solid form.
“Dietary compensation for beverages is weaker than for solid food forms of comparable nutrient content,” the researchers concluded.
“Thus, they pose a greater risk for promoting positive energy balance.”

I think this is a great idea for those trying to lose weight.
