"Sugars--sucrose (table sugar) and high fructose corn syrup specifically--are particularly harmful.," according to the new book "Good Calories Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes. ;The glucose in these sugars raises insulin levels; the fructose they contain overloads the liver."
