In men, hypertension is present in
- 15 percent of men with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 25 (normal weight),
- 22 percent of men with a body mass index (BMI) of 25-27, and
- 27 percent of men with a BMI of 27-30.
In women, hypertension is present in
- 15 percent of women with a BMI of less than 25,
- 28 percent of women with a BMI of 25-27, and
- 33 percent of women with a BMI of 27-30.
