    ANXIETY / DEPRESSION

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD: Vitamin B3 deficiency can cause anxiety, fatigue, depression

For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions.

In this video clip, she tells how a deficiency of vitamin B3, niacinamide, can cause anxiety depression and fatigue.

She also notes that vitamin B3 can eliminate a kind of alcohol psychosis that causes paranoia and feeling quarrelsome.

Note: the doses of vitamin B3 used for this are several thousand milligrams, which is a much higher dose than is found in multiple vitamins.

Dr. Larson also points out that anti-anxiety medicines such as Valium, Xanax, Ativan, and Librium attach to the same anti-anxiety receptors in the brain as vitamin B3.

She also notes that when the patent for Valium ran out, the drug company, Hoffman LaRoche, admitted that they got the formula for Valium by trying to copy the chemical structure of vitamin B3.

    Imagine that.

    NUTRIENT DEFICIENCIES

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD: Vitamin B1 deficiency can cause problems with memory and concentration

For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions.

In this video clip, she tells how nutrient deficiencies can cause symptoms that feel like a psychiatric disorder.

She tells how vitamin B1 ( thiamine ) can cause problems with memory and concentration, numbness and tingling in the arms and legs, a sensitivity to noise, and belligerence.

She notes that they inject vitamin B1, and that a deficiency of vitamin B1 is very common in alcoholics, and often requires massive doses.

    ANXIETY / DEPRESSION

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD: Hypoglycemia can cause anxiety and depression

For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions.

In this video clip, she notes that hypoglycemia, that is low blood sugar were severe fluctuations in blood sugar, can predispose a person to depression and what only appears to be deep rooted emotional and psychological disorders.

She also notes that nearly all alcoholics have hypoglycemia.

An important lesson from this and the many other common causes of anxiety and depression that she talks about is, if hypoglycemia is causing depression, drugs like Prozac cannot possibly solve the problem.

The only way to solve its is to control blood sugar by restricting easily absorbed carbohydrates.

    SUICIDAL DEPRESSION

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD: Suicidal depression involves a different brain chemistry than depression

For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions.

In this video clip, she notes that biochemical problems that cause suicidal depression are completely different than that of someone who is simply depressed.

She also notes that having someone who is suicidal sign a contract, promising not to kill themselves, is a complete waste of time.

Don’t despair. There is hope. Properly identifying and correcting the underlying biochemical glitch will solve the problem.

    ANXIETY / DEPRESSION

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD: Common biochemical causes of anxiety and depression

Depression is more common in people who are obese.

For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions.

In this video clip, she lists common causes of anxiety and depression.

    She also notes that…

“Some of the things that we treat, because we’ve done is so long, people don’t treat any more.

“They’ve moved on to more glorious things, things that they just found out about.

“But it’s important to treat the real underlying causes.

“Once you’ve seen it in the lab work over and over, you become a believer that you’re going to see it again in most people.”

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD: Psychiatry prescribes drugs without doing lab tests to determine cause

Depression is more common in people who are overweight.

For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD, author of “7 Weeks to Sobriety”, “Depression Free”, and “7 Weeks to Emotional Healing”, has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions.

In this video clip, she notes that psychiatry does not use any lab tests to establish what is causing a psychiatric illness such as anxiety and depression.

She notes that for every psychiatric illness, such as anxiety and depression, there is an underlying biochemical basis which is causing the problem.

Psychiatrist Dr Daniel Amen prefers natural treatments for anxiety, depression and other problems

Depression is more common in people who are overweight.

Psychiatrist Daniel Amen, M.D. notes that psychiatric drugs did not work for his niece, whereas natural treatments did, without side effects, and had long-term benefits.

“I began to wonder why I didn’t start with natural supplements, and then use medicines if the supplements didn’t work,” Dr. Amen says in this video clip from his show on PBS called Magnificent Mind at Any Age.

On the PBS television show Magnificent Mind at Any Age, psychiatrist Daniel Amen, M.D. notes that…

“One of the unique things at our clinic is that we use a sophisticated brain imaging technique called SPECT to help us analyze and treat our patients.

“Plus we use natural treatments whenever possible.”

“It is through the lens of our [ brains scans ]  that we discovered that when we improve the way your brain functions, not only do we help you overcome problems such as brain trauma, [ Attention Deficit Disorder ], anxiety, addictions, and anger, we also help you be more thoughtful, loving, creative, energetic and focused.”

NATURAL TREATMENTS FOR ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

Psychiatric problems are, largely, brain problems

Depression is more common in people who are overweight.

On the PBS television show Magnificent Mind at Any Age, psychiatrist Daniel Amen, M.D. notes that…

“One of the most important lessons we’ve learned from looking at tens of thousands of [ brain ] scans is that what most people think of as mental illnesses… are really, in large part, brain problems.”

Comment: In other words, psychiatric problems such as anxiety and depression are caused by physical problems, biochemical problems, brain problems.

They are not due to a lack of willpower.

And thus, often, they cannot simply be “talked” away.

NATURAL TREATMENTS FOR ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

Depression is a symptom, not a single illness; it does not tell you the cause or the treatment

Depression is more common in people who are overweight.

On the PBS television show Magnificent Mind at Any Age, psychiatrist Daniel Amen, M.D. notes that…

“Another important lesson that I learned from our brain imaging work is that most psychiatric illnesses are not single or simple disorders.

    “They all have multiple types.

“Giving someone the diagnosis of depression is exactly like giving them the diagnosis of chest pain.

“Why don’t doctors give people the diagnosis of chest pain?

“Because chest pain is a symptom with many different causes.”

“What can cause chest pain? Heart attacks, ulcers, gas, muscle pain, and grief.

“Doctors don’t typically give people the diagnosis of chest pain because it doesn’t tell them what causes it or what to do for it.

“The same thing is true for depression.

“It is a symptom with many different causes.

“And one treatment does not fit everyone.”

NATURAL TREATMENTS FOR ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

There are seven patterns of depression; treating all depression the same, invites disaster

Depression is more common in people who are overweight.

On the PBS television show Magnificent Mind at Any Age, psychiatrist Daniel Amen, M.D. notes that…

“With our brain imaging work we have seen that depression has at least seven different patterns…

    “Depression is not one thing…

“And giving everyone the same treatment for it, invites disaster.

“Yet that is exactly what is happening across our country every day.

“Many patients tell their doctors they are depressed, and leave the office after a five-minute appointment with samples of the latest drug without any sense of the type of depression they are treating.

“Knowing the type of depression… you have, is critical to getting the right help.

“In our clinics, we use SPECT [ brain ] imaging to help us understand and treat the brains of our patients.

“But a long time ago, I realized that not everyone can get a [ brain ] scan.

“So based on thousands of scans, we developed a questionnaire to help people predict what their scan might look like if they can get one.

“Then based on their answers, we suggest ways of helping the brain with certain natural supplements, medications, and exercises.”

    ANXIETY

Anxiety is 46% more common in people who are obese

Anxiety is 46 percent more common among people who are obese than those who are not obese according to a study by researchers at the Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Otago University in Wellington South, New Zealand. “[W]hile depressive disorder has been the focus of prior research on this topic, these results indicate that anxiety disorders, too, are associated with obesity,” the researchers noted.
