Being overweight dramatically increases diabetes risk
Being overweight increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes more than any other disease.
Women with a BMI of 25 to 29.9 (overweight) were approximately 7 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those with a BMI of 17 to 22 (lean). Those with a BMI greater than or equal to 35 (very obese) were 63 times more likely.
